HOW GOOD IS DENIM?

One of the hottest trends of 2016 is the denim shirt. The denim shirt gives a casual yet stylish look and is extremely versatile, making it a staple for every man’s wardrobe. The denim shirt can be worn in an infinite number of ways, matching with almost any style and giving the ‘edge’ to the outfit.

Buttons up: With the buttons done up, the denim jacket provides a smart casual look, perfect for the semi-smart occasion such as grabbing a couple beers at the pub. This look will make you stand out in the crowd without you looking overdressed. It can also be the ideal substitute for a jacket, especially when the weather is too cold for a shirt but too warm to wear a jacket.

Layered: The denim shirt can be layered effortlessly with almost every colour shirt and give a relaxed look. You can also do the buttons up and undo them if it gets too hot. It goes particularly well with white and grey shirts, or a black shirt for a more serious appearance.

Denim shirt and chinos: This combination gives a carefree summer/spring look. The blue denim is contrasted perfectly by light brown chinos to give a relaxed feel.

Double denim: The denim on denim look is one that is avoided by many, as they believe it creates an old fashioned look, rather than a crisp modern look. However, this is more the case with denim jackets that are thicker and usually longer, as opposed to with the denim shirt that is lighter. Ensure you avoid wearing two denim pieces with the same wash… contrast is key! The double denim look has increased in popularity in 2016 and is one to look out for this year.

However, make sure you stay away from the baggy denim shirt look! This can create a look all too similar to your grandads and make it look like you’re borrowing your dad’s clothes! Find a size that is snug but gives you enough room to move freely.

FAT WALLETS? What a blow.

The old days of fat wallets with loads of money are over! It's time to upgrade to something slimmer.

In all reality, the average person only needs to carry 3-5 cards in their wallets, plus a little cash (since we all swiped that debit card) - so there's no need for a huge wallet in your pocket.

Show your back pocket some love and upgrade to a card case. I've used card cases primarily for the last 2 years and I can't see going back to a regular wallet. Some designers have added a money clip to the back of their card cases, so you can keep a few dollars on hand with your plastic.

Below, I've curated a collection of 15 card case designs that have caught my eve. The best feature of a card case is that it's slim enough to store in your front pocket. Now you can ward off pickpockets and give your right butt-cheek a break.

Winter Parka's

As the winter month’s role into swing, out come the parka jackets to comfort the wearer whilst remaining all the more fashionable. With or without fur, the Parka is a popular choice for those trying to get a ‘casual yet cool’ look to sport during the cold days, keeping them warm whilst maintaining a taste for fashion and a keen eye for the well dressed. The dry coloured, fur-lined coats give the look matched only by that of an Eskimo on a night out, the perfect mixture between Snow Jacket, and Smart outerwear.
recently bought my first for the kind and must say, i am in love. Not only wearing it for those chilly midnight 'maccas' runs, but also to accompany me on my cold train ride to Uni. Perhaps a little odd to be wearing on a warm day, but nonetheless does the job of a regular jumper, but giving an almost hipster-vibe that I did enjoy. Coming it at a feeble price range of 100-150, it is not an item to build a collection of, but rather creating an stereotype within your peer group.

Though I am never the one to spend much on clothes, or pay too much attention to my appearance, it was a good choice for the cold Monday mornings at Macquarie Uni.

What is a Hipster

A staple style that seems to be a popular trend amongst some people is the notion of the hipster. A hipster can be defined as “a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.” In order to be a hipster it has been stated that a person needs to wear skinny jeans, glasses, vintage clothing, have a bear, layer clothing and wearing flannelette shirts. There are many aspects to being a hipster but from a fashion perspective, these are some of the necessities of a hipster The main component of a hipster is got not be mainstream, but as it is such a trend and become so popular there seems to be a contradiction where we can question if being a hipster is mainstream in itself.
